Reader's Slump? How To Get Over It!

Readers Slump! Isn't this the condition all readers hate being in? For the people who love reading, 'Reader's Slump' is simply horrible.

For those who are not aware of this term, let me explain it. 'Reader's Slump' is a condition in which a reader wants to be able to read but just can't. One wants to enjoy the book but can't focus enough on it to enjoy it, his/her thoughts are all over the place.

Imagine a fish with water all around but still being unable to dive into it, a person going through the 'reader's slump' feels exactly the same.

5 WAYS TO GET RID OF READER'S SLUMP

1. Change The Genre

Changing the genre you usually read could really help you overcome this situation. If you are an avid suspense/thriller reader, then stop and breathe, try out a different genre, try poetry or romance or maybe just some good comics! Changing the genre helps me a lot. I am a devoted romance reader, but then there comes a time, I just want to tear my book off because everything just seems similar and boring. Reading poetry helped me get out of my bookless hole.

Here are some poetry books if you want to give it a try!

2. Change The Format

Try switching up the format you usually read in. If kindle is your thing, get your hands on a paperback, switch on a light, make yourself a cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or whatever you like, snuggle up in a blanket and dive into your book. If you a print person, get a screen, read and share your reading progress on social media side by side, bookmark some quotes and try focusing on the book! You can also try audiobooks. Listening to an audiobook is refreshing.

3. Change The Length

Have you recently read a book that is bulky but unenjoyable? You wanted to strangle yourself for investing so much time and energy into it? Then, my dear, you need to try a book that is short and sweet. Switch to a collection of short stories. Short stories will definitely help you to find your way back to reading!

A collection of short stories for you:-

4. Group Reads & Book Talks

Try joining a book club or just join group reads on BOOKSTAGRAM. Group reads will add some excitement to your reading life and might inspire you to finish up the book you have started. Engage in book talks. Talk to your friends about your current read, share what you like and dislike. Expressing your feelings can really make a difference!

5. Take a Break

If none of the above-mentioned ways is helping you with your 'Reader's Slump' then you need to take a break! Take a nap or go out, enjoy nature, try working out, go for a run or just take a vacation because you might be mentally exhausted. Mental exhaustion always hampers the things we love doing the most. so don't tire yourself just TAKE A BREAK! You deserve it!

Five Things 'FIVE FEET APART' Taught Us

'Five Feet Apart' is an American Romantic Drama,  inspired by a real-life couple Dalton and Katie Prager, who both suffered from  cystic fibrosis . As you all know that I'm not a movie person, I'd choose books anytime over movies but as I am going through 'Reader's Slump' so I decided to watch Netflix and guess what? I found this treasure. This movie impacted me greatly so I decided to share all my takings with you all. Let's start! 1. Live Big because life don't give us enough chances. 2. Take risks , you never know which moment is your last.  3. Love! Don't be scared of it. Loving won't kill you but not doing it will surely kill a part of you. 4. Take chances! We can die today, we can die tomorrow but we can also make our life worth living. 5. Breathe! Take a deep breath and enjoy your today. We are all on borrowed time. Instead of focusing on making your tomorrow good, make your today even better.

REVIEW | BOUND BY HONOR BY CORA REILLY

Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only fifteen when her parents betrothed her to Luca – The Vice – Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families.  Now with eighteen, the day Aria has been dreading for years is looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca.  Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname ‘the Vice’ for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands. Luca might be one of the most sought after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth and predator-like charisma that radiates power ,  but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does: that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile. In her world a handsome exterior often hides the monster withi

REVIEW: Broken Knight by L.J. Shen

Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending. Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower. Sweet. Caring. Charitable. Quiet. Fake. Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants—namely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language. Who taught her how to laugh. To live. To love. Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero. Gorgeous. Athletic. Rugged. Popular. Liar. This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna. But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore. When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes. Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy TITLE- Broken Knight AUTHOR- L.J. Shen FORMAT- E

These are some of the triggers that drove the women captured in these pages to become lawbreakers.
