Readers Slump! Isn't this the condition all readers hate being in? For the people who love reading, 'Reader's Slump' is simply horrible.
For those who are not aware of this term, let me explain it. 'Reader's Slump' is a condition in which a reader wants to be able to read but just can't. One wants to enjoy the book but can't focus enough on it to enjoy it, his/her thoughts are all over the place.
Imagine a fish with water all around but still being unable to dive into it, a person going through the 'reader's slump' feels exactly the same.

5 WAYS TO GET RID OF READER'S SLUMP
1. Change The Genre

Changing the genre you usually read could really help you overcome this situation. If you are an avid suspense/thriller reader, then stop and breathe, try out a different genre, try poetry or romance or maybe just some good comics! Changing the genre helps me a lot. I am a devoted romance reader, but then there comes a time, I just want to tear my book off because everything just seems similar and boring. Reading poetry helped me get out of my bookless hole.
Here are some poetry books if you want to give it a try!
2. Change The Format

Try switching up the format you usually read in. If kindle is your thing, get your hands on a paperback, switch on a light, make yourself a cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or whatever you like, snuggle up in a blanket and dive into your book. If you a print person, get a screen, read and share your reading progress on social media side by side, bookmark some quotes and try focusing on the book! You can also try audiobooks. Listening to an audiobook is refreshing.
3. Change The Length

Have you recently read a book that is bulky but unenjoyable? You wanted to strangle yourself for investing so much time and energy into it? Then, my dear, you need to try a book that is short and sweet. Switch to a collection of short stories. Short stories will definitely help you to find your way back to reading!

Try joining a book club or just join group reads on BOOKSTAGRAM. Group reads will add some excitement to your reading life and might inspire you to finish up the book you have started. Engage in book talks. Talk to your friends about your current read, share what you like and dislike. Expressing your feelings can really make a difference!
5. Take a Break

If none of the above-mentioned ways is helping you with your 'Reader's Slump' then you need to take a break! Take a nap or go out, enjoy nature, try working out, go for a run or just take a vacation because you might be mentally exhausted. Mental exhaustion always hampers the things we love doing the most. so don't tire yourself just TAKE A BREAK! You deserve it!
